The Fluoride Varnish Application Competency Certificate (ONLINE COURSE) is a 3-week online modules course which is covering the theoretical aspects of an extended duties dental care professional.

The course is comprised of a Practical Competence Portfolio (PCP) which is composed of 10 Fluoride varnish application (a mixture between children and adults) and 2 Case Studies (between 700 and 900 words).

Formal Assessment:

Every Module is completed by an MCQ assessment. You must reach 80% of each assessment to be legible to print the module completion certificate, however you will have unlimited assessment trials, in case of failing the assessment.

  • Qualified Dental Nurses and Registered with the GDC
  • Dental Nurses registered with the GDC
  • Hygienists, therapists, or orthodontic therapists registered with the GDC

1) The course, course material and resources are available from the start date specified in the course information once enrolment and payment have been processed. All course due dates and end dates are specified in the course information. After the course end date, access to information and resources for the course will no longer be available.

2) To extend your subscription to the E-Learning Certificate of Competency courses, the following are available:

a) A one (1)-month subscription extension at the cost of 20% of the course fee. EXTEND WITH 1 MONTH

b) A three (3)-month subscription extension at the cost of 50% of the course fee. EXTEND WITH 3 MONTHS

The course fee is not either partly or fully refundable to you at any point you decide to leave the course

Delivery of the correct knowledge, content, and application of Delivering Better Oral Health, together with an explanation of the use of evidence-based statements.

Principles of oral health education and promotion.

Second Monday after your enrolment (any time)

History use and benefits of fluoride.

Clinical evidence in support of the use of fluoride varnish

Carious process and fluoride’s role in preventing occurrence/recurrence

Week 3

3rd Monday after your enrolment (any time)

Dental anatomy in health and disease.

Contraindications for the use of fluoride varnish and fluoride toxicity.

Application of fluoride varnish
