The National Certificate in Oral Health Education (CLASS BASED COURSE) is a 6-month course which is covering the theoretical aspects of an oral health educator.
The course is comprised of a Record of Competence (ROC) which is composed of 7 PCAs (4 of these must be seen on at least 2 occasions) 1 Case Study, 1 Exhibition and 2 Supplementary Outcomes
The awarding body for the National Certificate in Oral Health Education qualification is the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN.) PDS is an accredited NEBDN training centre.
Qualification Exam:
Held twice per year either in March or September. All Post-Reg Exams are held at our Venue in Edgware. PDS is the 5th NEBDN accredited exam centre in London.
NEBDN Theoretical Exam is a 90-minute examination composed of 45 MCQs and 30 EMQs
Who Should Attend?
- Qualified Dental Nurses and Registered with the GDC, willing to become an Oral Health Educator
- Dental Nurses registered with the GDC, willing to become an Oral Health Educator

How to Book:
- You will need to attend an enrolment at our Head Office in Edgware HA8 or alternatively to enrol online
- IF ENROLLING AT THE HEAD OFFICE: You will then have a 1:1 interview with a member of our training team for approx. 1 hr and 15 min.

Course Fee:
£720 (Including VAT-if paid in full)
£749 (Including VAT-if paid in 3 monthly instalments (£449 enrolment fee, followed by the next 3 monthly instalment payments worth of £100/each).
Please note that NEBDN Exam & ROC Fees (£210) are not included in the course fee. These fees are payable to NEBDN (and not to the College).
The course fee is not either partly or fully refundable to you at any point you decide to leave the course
Module 1: The Structure of the Oral Cavity / Primary & Secondary Dentition
Module 2: Oral Diseases / Everything about Caries and Perio Diseases
Module 3: Auxiliary oral diseases found in the Oral Cavity
Module 4: The Importance & Benefits of Patient Oral Health Education
Module 5: Oral Health Diseases in Various Patient Groups & the Impact on them
Module 6: The Purpose of Oral Health Education in both Dental Practices and other environments
Module 7: Legal and Ethical Issues & GDC Standards for the Dental Team / Scope of Practice
Requirements:
- You must be GDC registered and hold a valid GDC certificate
- You must complete & scan back the enrolment pack prior to your enrolment completion
- You must submit the nebdn SLA signed by your employer prior to your enrolment completion
- You must pay the course fee prior to the provision of your online membership
- You must hold an ‘extended duties’ indemnity insurance in place prior to enrol on this course
- You must work in a dental practice setting and have a supportive mentor / witness to complete the Record of Competence
- You must have access to Internet to complete the course modules & their relevant assessments in the required timeframe
E-Learning Certificate of Competency Courses: Terms and Conditions:
1) Your full membership (which includes 24/7 access to the course content including online modules, online assessments, and other resources etc.) will be provided when the enrolment process & the course fees have been paid and processed. This membership is available for the timeframe of your modules & the completion of your Record of Competence only. If you overcome this timeframe, you will be required to extend your course membership at an extra cost.
2) To extend your course membership, you have the following two options:
a) 1-month extension at the cost of 15% of the course fees.
b) 6-month extension at the cost of 50% of the course fees.
3) This course fee / nebdn exam fee is not either partly or fully refundable to you (or your employer) at any time, if you decide to leave the course or your employer does not longer supports / employs you.
